Micropayments for Online Articles
Concept
This may already exist, but...
- Company has logins to various websites.
- Company creates a browser extension, so when Customer clicks on a link, it informs Customer that
the article is pay-walled and the cost is $X, proceed? (Yes/No)
- Assuming the Customer clicks Yes, the extension allows the Customer to proceed to the article and read it, meanwhile $X is deducted from account.
- Company backend has subscription/login (maybe unique to user) to those pay-walled websites.
- Company has database, tracking each Customer's account balance and how much they use/pay and notifies when account is getting low (e.g., $<5).
- Customer can setup balance with Company (e.g., $10) and receive notifications when balance is low.
- Maybe initially, Company just manages a bunch of "free" logins (e.g., Medium, realpython) so users can read articles without having to log-in.
